As the firm that originally designed the Renville County Government Center, Klein McCarthy Architects was asked in 2006 to design a new addition to the existing Government Center. Renovations and additions to the complex accommodate the County's Health and Human Services Departments, both the Olivia City Police and County Sheriff's departments, relocated Extension and provide space for the County Attorney's Office.
A new Health & Human Services building is linked to the existing Government center on all three levels via an Updated and expanded public lobby. This lobby also allows for secured off hours access and clearer way finding for visitors. Where possible existing systems were reused and augmented for energy efficiency. New building systems were provided with advanced controls systems so the County can monitor the entire campus and save on energy expenses. The extensive renovation and addition of multiple buildings was accomplished within the County's ambitions budget target.
