The MCF Lino Lakes Reception / Segregation Unit is designed to provide secure entrance and intake capability together with segregation housing for administrative and disciplinary purposes. The facility was constructed within remodeled space formerly used for campus industry, requiring new doors and hardware, finishes, HVAC, fire protection and lighting. A new vehicle sallyport was added outside the perimeter fence, with a secure link providing access for prisoners, staff and visitors.
Internally, the Intake/Visiting function contains an entrance sallyport, visitor waiting, contact and non-contact visiting, and intake processing/secure holding area. A central control room commands an electronic security management system integrating door control, communications and video surveillance.
The Segregation Unit provides 42 beds of close-custody housing in two equal pods. Cells are arranged along both sides of a sky lit dayroom space providing circulation, supervision and limited recreation capability. A secure control room has direct visual surveillance of the entry sallyport, showers, and one dayroom, with video cameras providing back-up in other areas. A fenced yard accommodates directly supervised outdoor recreation.
