Stevens County Courthouse
MORRIS, MN

Home : Projects : Government Justice Centers : Stevens County Courthouse

The existing 28,000 SF courthouse, built in 1956, was remodeled to include Human Services, County offices, and Extension programs, while maintaining the existing Courts and Court Administrations.

A new 23,000 SF Law Enforcement Center, Dispatch, Emergency Operations Center, Courts Holding Facility and Vehicle Sally Port were added to create an integrated Government Campus.

The Law Enforcement Center and a Courts Holding area were attached, adjacent to the existing courtrooms, and created a courts waiting/lobby for the public. We designed a secure corridor to the backside of the courtrooms, which allows inmate delivery to the courtroom without coming into contact with the general public. This allows for the greatest security for the public and inmates. A Vehicle Sallyport/Processing Area was also added so inmates never have to be escorted in the public view, or on the city streets. The Law Enforcement Center was given direct access to the holding area for quicker response time in case of an emergency.

A new Dispatch was added and it has the capability of becoming a Regional Dispatch Center. The entire facility was designed to incorporate a future jail which will be dictated by the direction of the County's inmate population.
