As the firm that originally designed the Renville County Government Center, Klein McCarthy Architects was asked in 2006 to design a new
addition to the existing Government Center. Renovations and additions to the complex will accommodate the county's Health and Human Services Departments, both
the Olivia City Police and County Sheriff's departments, relocate Extension and provide space for the County Attorney's Office.
A new adjacent three story building was built to provide space for the return of Human Services to the county campus from a remote location, and also for expanded
and modernized space for the County Health Department. The two buildings are linked by a new public lobby that allows for cohesive movement between the buildings.
The design permits increased operational efficiency by grouping major government services into an integrated campus. The expansion allowed Health and Human Services
and the County Attorney to rejoin the campus facility. Through our expertise in planning, Klein McCarthy was able to provide the required 21,000 s.f. Health and
Human Services addition as well as an operationally efficient 28,000 s.f. jail while meeting the county's budget cap.
