MCF Lino Lakes Chemical Dependency Unit
LINO LAKES, MN

Home : Projects : Prisons : MCF Lino Lakes Chemical Dependency Unit

Completed in 1996 as part of a campus expansion and improvement program, this building accommodates 232 beds of minimum security housing with associated program and support facilities. The facility houses inmates for up to 24 months of chemical dependency and sex offender therapy prior to release to the community. Under its rehabilitative mission, the program spaces provide for intensive staff interaction with small groups of inmates and individual counseling. The 47,000 square foot facility was constructed well within the client's construction budget.

Central facilities include reception/control desk, offices for administrative and counseling staff, active recreation room and a large, divisible group meeting room. Finish materials present a relatively domestic appearance, with gypsum board partitions, wood doors, carpeted floors and acoustic ceilings. Minimum security provisions include exterior door control and monitoring, intercom system, and video surveillance.

The building contains four equal housing units, with a combination of single and double occupancy bedrooms in two levels around a central dayroom. Each dayroom includes space for passive recreation, toilet and shower facilities, laundry, a supervisor's office and small-group counseling rooms.
