Stevens County Courthouse Project Bids Come in Under Budget
Morris, MinnesotaNov. 2009

Construction Bids were opened for Phase 2 of the Stevens County Courthouse project located in Morris, Minnesota in November 2009, and came in under budget.

Phase 1 bids which were opened in September 2009 and included all site work, utilities, footing, foundations, block & brick, structural steel and a geothermal system as well as other shell components of the facility. The bids for Phase 1 came in approximately 14% under the estimated budget amount.

Phase 2 bids covered the remaining work for the entire project, which includes a 28,000 SF remodel and a 23,000 SF new addition of a new Law Enforcement Center, Dispatch Facility, and Courts holding. Bids for Phase 2 came in approximately 8.25% under the estimated budget.

The overall savings to the project can be contributed to the good bidding climate of the economy in late 2009, and the focus of the client, contractors and design team lead by Klein McCarthy Architects.
