Klein McCarthy Architects worked with Houston County to design the Houston County Justice Center. The new Justice Center combines law enforcement offices, jail, courts and courts services. The new facility will accommodate proper procedural and processing requirements to support law enforcement requirements and promote staff efficiency. The facility was designed to provide a clear identity for the Sheriff's Office at the main building entrance while providing secure and separate staff circulation and access to the jail and courts on the second level.
The location of the new Justice Center and new parking lot reinforce the concept of the original courthouse square. The exterior design and materials reflect the classical proportions and relationships of the existing buildings.
In addition to a complete Sherriff's office including space for investigations and evidence processing and storage, the facility includes an Emergency Operations Center and vehicle processing areas. Law Enforcement staff have direct access to Courts, Probations and the County Jail facility as well as access to other county departments within the campus.
